Easter in Spetses comes with its own energy, vibrant, atmospheric, and full of striking imagery. On Resurrection night, at the Church of Analypsi, a wooden boat is set on fire in a tradition reminiscent of the famous Armata festival. On Easter Sunday, Judas is burned in the area of Kounoupitsa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Good Friday, however, is the true highlight: four beautifully decorated Epitaphs from across the island meet in front of the historic Poseidonion Hotel, while crowds follow holding lanterns and candles. The atmosphere is simply cinematic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
