Fantastic 4: Kythnos, Serifos, Sifnos & Kimolos
Discover the hidden side of the Cyclades
While Millennials are still hunting for sunbeds on the overcrowded, always sold-out beaches of the eastern Cyclades, the cooler Gen Z crowd — and the Millennials who know better — are heading west for a more authentic Greek island experience.
The journey starts from Lavrio, Athens’ rising port hub and the new gateway to the Aegean.

Hop onboard the Cat I by Magic Sea Ferries and travel exactly the way island hopping should feel: fast, easy and comfortable. Bring your friends, your pets, even your car — everyone’s welcome. Grab a coffee from Everest, connect to the free onboard wi-fi and enjoy the ride from the very first minute. What more could you ask for?
First stop: Kythnos
Kythnos is the closest hidden gem of the western Cyclades. In just 1 hour and 10 minutes, you arrive at an island filled with stunning beaches, both organized and untouched.
Kolona Beach is the island’s iconic hotspot, while Loutra offers something truly unique: natural thermal springs for the ultimate wellness and relaxation experience.

Wander through the charming villages of Chora and Dryopida, discover Byzantine monuments and tiny secluded chapels, or explore the island’s hiking trails. And of course, food lovers are in for a treat: fresh seafood, local sausages, traditional “pittara”, rusks, honey, cheese and local wine are all part of the Kythnos experience.
Coming next: Serifos
The moment you arrive in Chora, you instantly get the Serifos vibe.
Once famous for its mining history, Serifos is now known for its breathtaking beaches like Livadakia, Kalo Ampeli, Malliadiko, Sikamia and Platis Gialos.

But the island’s beauty goes beyond the coastline. Explore picturesque villages like Koutalas, Megalo Livadi and Kentarchos for a taste of authentic Cycladic life. And before you leave? You have to try the local chickpea stew, louza and traditional island cheeses. Trust us.
All-time classic: Sifnos
Beautiful beaches, timeless Cycladic architecture, incredible food, cosmopolitan energy and complete serenity — Sifnos truly has it all.
Its capital, Apollonia, with its narrow stone-paved alleys, is reason enough to visit. If you’re into beach life with a more social vibe, head to Vathi or Faros for beach bars, watersports and laid-back island energy.

As for food, Sifnos is legendary. Don’t miss the traditional slow-cooked chickpea stew and the famous mastelo — lamb cooked in a clay pot over vine branches.
Last but not least: Kimolos
One of the newest destinations added to the Magic Sea Ferries routes — and already climbing every traveler’s bucket list — is Kimolos.
The island’s main village, simply called Chorio, blends classic Cycladic white houses with medieval architecture and old castle walls.
Kimolos stands out for its silver-colored rocks, volcanic landscapes, white sandy beaches and crystal-clear turquoise waters.
Swim at Prassa Beach with its powdery white sand, discover Monastiria Beach and, if you have the time, take a boat trip to the magical Polyaigos island. Fun fact: this untouched paradise is home to the Mediterranean monk seal, monachus monachus, and only two permanent residents.
And naturally, don’t leave without trying the island’s homemade pies and traditional baked specialties.
